What ingredients should we look out for when shopping for household cleaners or personal cosmetics?
I get asked this question a lot. So I thought I would share my answer here.
My rule has always been if I do not know what it is I do not use it. It has been a very easy rule for me to follow now that I have found some amazing companies that provide us with products that use only pure, natural and organic ingredients. One of the many reasons that I have created this blog was to share these all with you! And the store will be coming soon, to make it even easier for you!
I can be quiet extreme in my commitments, some may say, to pure living, yet I see no reason to compromise and choose something that is a little better. There have been plenty of chemicals on the market that we believed were safe at one point or another - formaldehyde, asbestos, DDT, to name a few. I see no reason to use something that has no proven safety, and even when science shows that the chemical might be safe, this does not hold much weight to me. The earth was flat at one point, remember? I want something that I could go out to my backyard to make if I had the plants in my backyard. It is my dream and I am working towards it.
Alright, enough of my soapbox. That being said there are still some ingredients that I find particularly important to look out for, especially because these end up in ‘organic’ products as well.
These will be in a series and I will write about one a week, so bookmark this page and come back to it ( I will place links as I write) or subscribe to the RSS feed and stay updated. I would love to hear your comments too! If you think any others should be added to the list I can keep the series going!

Check out these other articles that talk about the use of toxic ingredients in skin care products:
Are there toxic chemicals in your ‘organic’ personal care products?
My words of wisdom: Believe in love, in possibility, in going after your dreams, in never stopping, in not existing but living - fully, unapologetically and wildly, believe that all is good, and always trust your gut.
