non-toxic

mythicColori just brought Mythic Paint to Chicago.  :) I couldn’t be happier to have this paint close by.  A favorite of those that have environmental illnesses, allergies, and those looking for a greener option – Mythic Paint not only performs well, but also has minimal scent and cures fast. (For those of you with serious sensitivities, remember to always test small amounts first.  A great idea is the jar test as we all react very differently to different products.  I have learned this the hard way!)

Michelle, the owner of Colori, is amazing and if you are in Chicago she rocks at in home color consultations . Also, her window display is by INDO projects and  is stunning don’t you think?

Natural Pool

Have you ever swam in a natural pool?  It is like swimming in a clear, cool, pristine lake. No chemicals, no harsh chlorine, and no yellow hair. I wish that they were more popular in the States.  I think the biggest hurdle is that people just do not realize that there is a beautiful alternative to the chlorine saturated pools that we usually swim in.  Read a little bit more about chlorine in a blog entry that I wrote if you need some convincing that you should probably stay away from it.   [click to continue…]

lucky-earth

My car is nearly always dirty.  Me, the overly neat, clean and organized person, somehow is always a disaster when it comes to my car.  The main problem though is that I have never found an easy solution to washing my car that is non-toxic.  And I hate washing my car myself. My hands get super wrinkly when they are in the water for too long and it just grosses me out! The great news is – Lucky Earth is not only non-toxic but also waterless! :)

The founders of Lucky Earth have a daughter that has environmental and chemical sensitivities. Finding safer alternatives for most cleaners today is easy enough. (wow, I would have never been able to say that 5 years ago) Yet, they could not find a car wash solution that was dye and fragrance free. Lucky us, they created Lucky Earth!

I used Lucky Earth today on my car.  My car was pretty dirty.  I just got home from a 3,500 mile road trip, so my car was pretty much bug guts.  The Lucky Earth car wash worked wonderfully though.  I am quiet impressed.  No smell, nothing that I reacted to, my hands are a little dry but other then that I am super stoked about Lucky Earth!

amenity-bedding

I have always loved the simple organic feel of Amenity’s prints.  They have just come out with a new bright fuchsia print that is just stunning! 300 thread count, organic cotton, and non-toxic water based inks.  Yum!

Michelle Adams of Rubie Green bedding is an absolute gem to work with!  She has created a beautiful line of bedding and upholstery fabrics that are 100% organic and printed with water-based, non-toxic inks that contain no volatile organic compounds (VOC’s), and utilize a printing process that minimizes water consumption. Employees are paid fair trade wages, and the bedding is delivered in non-toxic packaging, tucked inside reusable organic cotton drawstring bags.  See more here on her beautiful site!  Be sure to check out her upholstery fabrics!  They are beautiful. :)
